The Baird Inquiry
The Foundation’s victories continued in August 2023 when Dame Vera Baird was commissioned to conduct an independent inquiry to ensure the safety of women and girls in Greater Manchester Police custody. This was undertaken with an aim to improve the confidence of women and girls to report crimes to the Greater Manchester Police. Maggie has been included as an independent expert working with Baird in this battle to improve the treatment of females within the Criminal Justice System.
