These two amazing young women (Jade and Chantelle) have both been supported by our team at The Maggie Oliver Foundation for several years now. They’ve both come a long, long way since the first time we spoke….
After childhoods overshadowed by the most horrific sexual abuse, their trauma was increased ten fold because they were blamed, judged, criminalised, isolated and abandoned by the state - police, social services, crown prosecution service. The list just goes on….
We’re fighting alongside both to ensure they are no longer alone, that they are heard, as they continue to fight against the powerful institutions for the the justice and care they were denied as children, and for ACCOUNTABILITY for those who failed them so badly.
We shared tiny snapshots of their horrific journeys in this short film at our 2026 Annual Ball in May. The room came to a total standstill. You could hear a pin drop - and afterwards there was a standing ovation for their bravery, for their willingness to share their stories and for their dignity!
This short film was created by our long standing supporter and amazing filmmaker David of DMC Media. An honorary member of our team who has been with us from the very start, even when we were a fledgling charity at our drop in centre in Rochdale!
Thankyou once again David for your patience in working with us for 3 months to get this “just right”, and for your kindness and skill in telling the stories of Jade and Chantelle’s journey from the most unimaginable “Pain into Power” so incredibly well…..
